Farm Fixins' Cookbook was published in 2002 by the Center for Agricultural Science & Heritage. This 252-page book is hardbound with a spiral bind for easy use. The book is divided into three sections: Open Fire, Wood Cook Stove, and Electricity in Kitchen. The recipes and anecdotes that comprise the book were collected from the men and women who have for years volunteered their time and skills to the Indiana State Fair Pioneer Village, an agricultural reenactment village that thrives during the Indiana State Fair. Throughout the pages are sprinkled 4-color photos of activities at the Pioneer Village, as well as quotes, "remedies," and reminiscences of many of the folks who have worked there over the last several decades.
Farm Fixins' originally was distributed through the non-profit Center for Ag Science which no longer exists, but multiple cookbooks do. The books are "new/old" stock, you might say. They are wrapped in plastic and are brand new, even though they are now more than 10 years old. Sale of the books will help underwrite the Bicentennial Barn Project.
